Dear Parents/Guardians Re: Photographing and videoing pupils Many parents are fortunate enough to watch their children in the various Kinson productions where the staff and pupils work hard to put those final touches that make the shows. I am aware that when the children are performing, many parents will want to video or photograph the event to record these special moments. You will probably know that there have been discussions in the press about this. Schools are subject to the Data Protection Act and must try to ensure that any images of pupils are taken appropriately, simply to remember the event. I really do not want to have to refuse permission for the recording of any school events on film or videotape, hence this letter. If you do not wish to give permission for your child to be photographed or videoed along with other groups of children, could you please write in to let me know? Otherwise I will assume that you are happy for their images to be shared with others. I can assure you that no pictures of any individual child will be allowed to be taken in school without your written permission; neither will children in groups be named unless you agree to it. I must ask anyone who takes pictures at performances to ensure that they do not distract the children who are performing and do not spoil the enjoyment for the rest of the audience. Thank you for your attention in this matter. Yours sincerely Liz Thomasson Mrs L Thomasson Headteacher |
